Each business usually have specific marketing strategies which are tailored to their needs. They would use these to increase customer base, especially for small businesses. Since budget plays a role into this, we have listed the most budget-friendly and current marketing strategies for small businesses.

Marketing Strategies For Small Businesses

First would be online marketing. Using the internet as your very own platform and voice is very effective. According to Weidert, global e-commerce will reach $4.5 trillion by 2021. It has been used and is still being used as a marketing tool by many big corporations. For small businesses to thrive in the same environment, they need to make a stand out material.

Fifty-two percent of B2C companies agree that social media has a positive effect, a study revealed. It has increased sales and revenue for many companies. Using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media to communicate their message to their customers and possible future customers is a great marketing tactic. However, to stand out, companies should post content that their audience can relate with. It should make people want to share their content.

Another survey has found out that 65 percent of people feel an emotional connection to a certain brand because “they care about people like me”. It is what makes people buy products and not pure logic alone. Creating video tutorials or sending emails with their preferred products and services would also increase a company’s customer base.

Another strategy is cause marketing. It is the type of marketing where brands will find a cause or help an organization for a mutual benefit. It is not the corporate responsibility of companies, this one is different. It is as simple as when brands or specific products are fighting for what they believe in.

Studies have found that 90 percent of people lean more to brands that have a cause. The latest example would be Nike’s Colin Kaepernick advertisement. It made headlines as the NFL player was controversial because of his kneeling statement. Though there were people who boycotted Nike, there were more people who bought new products from the sports company as they believe in the same cause and virtue.

Now, small businesses do not need to get a football star as big as Kaepernick. They can do as little as donating to animal shelters or orphanages and home for the aged.

Last but not the least is the so-called word of mouth advertising. Be it through online or not, word of mouth marketing is always effective. Invesp has stated that 90 percent of people trust the brand more if they are recommended by a friend or family.

Moreover, 82 percent of marketers trust word of mouth marketing to increase their brand awareness and 43 percent expects it to improve their direct sales. In fact, those expectations were met as word of mouth advertising has garnered 6 trillion dollars in annual consumer spending.

Now, how would you stand out by using this marketing strategies?

Learn what your consumers want and how to satisfy them. Also, you need to really know your goals, vision, and mission to portray yourself better to the recommended friend or possible customer.
