Changing your team’s work environment can be exciting and refreshing, but it’s also undeniably challenging. When that shift is to a remote environment, the challenge is even greater: Managing remote employees.
Wondering how you can manage remote teams?
Here are 7 effective ways to manage remote workers better on Microsoft Teams.
1. Create separate channels to organize your remote team
Most companies create multiple teams, each one for a specific department, and add channels for smaller groups within their department or for project-based collaboration.
Create a separate channel for your team members to collaborate quickly and easily. And let them know how things are structured within this channel.
Find the team name and click More options and click Add channel. You can also click the Manage team and add a channel in the Channels tab.
2. Add a “Wiki” tab to add guidelines
When it comes to working from home, it’s not easy to set guidelines and ensure work etiquette is followed. Just add a wiki tab within Microsoft Teams, letting your team know the dos and don’ts of working remotely.
Every channel comes with a Wiki tab. With this tab, your team doesn’t have to search for specific guidelines for their work. And they can find it right within their channel.
Select Add a tab button next to the other tab names in the channel and then select Wiki from the tab gallery. Name the tab and start writing.
3. Use Notes for project management and collaboration
OneNote is built into Microsoft Teams and shows up as a tab named ‘Notes’ within your channels.
It allows you to view and manage tasks that everyone within that team has on their plate without switching to a separate window for their task list.
4. Use Sharepoint to keep your files centralized
When your team is working remotely, file management is crucial to ensure you can work quicker and better. Set up Sharepoint to keep your files centralized and easy to access.
It looks like a hub of files, and you can organize it into headings to simplify your team’s search for specific files.
5. Send praise and badges to your team
Using the Open Badges app template in Microsoft Teams, you can create and award badges to team members conveniently within the Teams’ context. Once awarded, recipients and other team members are notified about the awarded badge, and award details can be viewed by simply tagging the badge recipient within the channel conversation.
All your team members can also select badges from a complete list and award recognition to one another.
6. Send the meeting recording to all your team members
Microsoft Teams allows you to record the meetings you have on the platform to review it later or share it with team members who couldn’t attend. Recording owners can download and distribute their meeting recordings.
Go to the meeting recording in the chat history and select the More options button and click Get Link. In the Get Stream link dialog box, select Copy and paste the link and share it with your teammates.
7. Build a friendly team culture with Trivia
Trivia is the new way to connect with your remote team while playing remote games on Microsoft Teams! Get summarised results at the end of every Trivia quiz and find your very own Quizzard!
