What Did I Learn from a Porcupine?

Sometimes I just love to laugh at the unexpected gems you can find on the internet. Especially the ones that show me a whole new perspective and way to think about something.

Take this silly little porcupine. I always thought they were armadillo-like, snarly and aggressive, shooting quillls at anything that came near them. Foul critters.

Check out this video (It’s worth watching the whole thing.) I was so wrong!

Wow! This adorable little critter is NOTHING like my expectation! I want one of these cuties for my own critter family:)

So what are my lessons learned?

  • My status quo belief needs a massive update when it comes to porcupines – as with so many other out-of-date and simply untrue beliefs that limit my thinking.
  • We all need to be more like this little porcupine. He ditched his status quo role and behavioral traning to reach out and find a new way to be. I’d say he’s living a pretty successful porcupine life.

When we ditch our own status quo about who we are, what our business delivers, how we should operate – we open the opportunity to step into a new way of being, free of our limitations, reaching for new and innovative ways to be.

My thanks to this prickly friend who reminded me of my third lesson – that in life and in business – anything is possible.
