Greetings. It’s Halloween and a special time when we welcome a parade of cute and scary characters to our homes–lured by the promise of candy, a smile, and the simple affirmation that their store-bought and handmade costumes are supercool. And if you’re lucky you’ll have the chance to greet your share of princesses, ninjas, witches, soccer players, soldiers, ghosts, goblins, skeletons, health professionals, Spidermen, Wonderwomen, rock stars, dogs, cats, bears, Sesame Street characters (and possibly an author or innovation consultant–just kidding). And you might even see a few past, current, and future political figures–though politicians aren’t particularly popular these days.
Plus, if you stroll through your neighborhood you’ll also see all kinds of fun and scary decorations including some cleverly carved pumpkins. Though you might not see many as remarkable as the ones carved by Ray Villafane of North Michigan, a toy sculptor by trade who has taken the world of pumpkin carving to new and amazing heights. Who would have ever imagined the potential for such genius and innovation in this simple Fall tradition?
We win in business and in life when we bring fresh ideas and passion to the things we hold dear. And when we find everyday opportunities to be remarkable.
Cheers and Happy Halloween!
