Kids today….
Of course adults have been starting sentences with those two words for generations!
It goes without saying that, kids today….are electronically plugged-in, socially influential, and driven by emotion.
The degree to which all of that is true, however, is illuminated in a new Harris Interactive study that shows 75% of 8-to-24-year-olds use a social networking site and 68% spend time on a social networking site daily.
86% of 18-to-24-year-olds and 71% of 13-to-17-year-olds use Facebook. 28% of 8-to-12-year-olds use Facebook, as well.
According to the study’s results, “Today’s tweens, teens and young adults have a huge and influential presence in our world. They are heard through personal spending power and market influence, as well as their cominating presence in the Internet technology and media realms.”
The study also suggests that the next generation is not immune to fear, with over 66% of 18-24 year olds, and a significant number of the other age groups, worrying about not having enough money. A sizable number of these youth are also concerned about not being able to pay for college.
There is a lot going on with kids today….
How much have you considered them as you design experiences for their parents or for this burgeoning group of influencers?
