OneSource LiveContent™ Platform Integrates Content from Compiled Data, Editorial Content, Web-Mining and Social Media into the Comprehensive Information Service
(OMAHA, NE) — OneSource, an Infogroup company (NASDAQ: IUSA), and the pioneer in aggregating and adding value to business information, today launched the LiveContent™ platform, which for the first time combines data from traditional compiled data, editorial content, web-mining and social media into a single unified information service. LiveContent™ combines these very different ways of capturing information, each with unique advantages, into a single superior information service:
- Compiled Data: Assembled from directories and public sources of data, including Infogroup’s best-in-class business data, or licensed from suppliers of proprietary compiled data
- Editorial Content: Developed, researcher reviewed and enriched information
- Web Mining: Information captured from corporate websites, blogs and other publicly accessible web properties
- Social Media: Contributed by users themselves through social networking sites, user contributed data exchanges and self-publication
- Integrating best of breed data sources from around the world
- Selecting and combining the most reliable elements from each data source
- Leveraging technology to refine and enrich the information
- Employing editorial resources to add value through research-based review
- Verifying data elements through phone calls on a periodic basis
- Capturing user-contributions of both content and feedback
The LiveContent™ methodology is defined by a rigorous, multi-step process to ensure the highest level of quality by:
To develop a more comprehensive set of business contact information for a particular company, LiveContent™ may blend together contacts from several different sources, removing duplicates, and synthesizing the information at both the contact and data-element level. OneSource aggregates information from over 50 different sources of data, including providers such as Thomson Reuters, Experian, and NetProspex.
“More than ever, companies in today’s global economy need deep information that goes beyond the content freely available on the web. In order to achieve a superior level of quality and depth, OneSource developed the unique LiveContent™ platform, which incorporates the best data elements from a wide variety of sources, including user-contributed information, and synthesizes them into a comprehensive business information service. For example, a name and title may be taken from one data source and combined an e-mail from another source,” said Phil Garlick, President of OneSource.
OneSource recently incorporated user contributed data from NetProspex as a key new source of business contacts. Gary Haliwell, the Chief Executive Officer of Netprospex says, “NetProspex offers millions of contact records contributed by users, which we verify with our ClenestepTM technology and processes. These records include complete business card information, such as contact name, job title, company, address, phone number and e-mail.”
The OneSource LiveContent™ platform enables companies to develop sales leads and gain actionable business intelligence about companies, executives, and industries around the world, including Asia, Europe, and North America. The solution is available through OneSource’s subscription service offerings, including its flagship Global Business Browser. It will also be available through OneSource for CRM, which helps companies accelerate sales prospecting to drive sales.

They’ve also recently jumped onto the Sales 2.0 bandwagon (well, who hasn’t) a good 2.5 years after the original conference in October 2007 – http://www.sales20conf.com/agenda.html.
Then again, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. It’s inspiring to see how a disruptive technology company can dictate changes in the positioning (if not the products themselves, as the catch up game takes much longer there) used by large incumbent data companies. The conversation is shifting away from “look how much data we have” to “look how we can improve your business”. It’s about time!
