Scottsdale, Ariz. – Jan. 31, 2008 – McKesson Specialty, a business unit of McKesson Corporation, announces the appointment of Heather Morel as vice president and general manager of McKesson Specialty Reimbursement and Access Services. In this capacity, Morel will focus on the continued development and execution of reimbursement strategies, patient assistance programs and other patient and physician-focused programs to improve access to needed medications for pharmaceutical manufacturer clients.

With over 15 years of experience in healthcare reimbursement and marketing strategy, Morel is a highly regarded expert who routinely provides pharmaceutical manufacturer clients with strategic reimbursement guidance. Previously, Morel served as vice president of Boston Healthcare Associates, where she led client teams in formulating and implementing reimbursement strategies and tactics.

Morel is especially skilled in developing reimbursement strategies that uncover opportunities for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and diagnostic firms. Morel is also proficient in researching and recommending optimal reimbursement positioning, contracting, pricing and tactical support programs and products that maximize revenue under managed care, Medicare coverage and payment constraints, such as reimbursement hotlines and patient assistance programs. While at Boston Healthcare, she helped clients launch specialty pharmaceutical products, complex devices and novel diagnostics.

“Heather’s deep understanding of the healthcare market, combined with her extensive relationships with drug manufacturers – a key audience for McKesson’s Reimbursement and Access Services business – has enabled her to achieve a reputation for delivering high-quality client service and positions her for success in her new role,” says Pat Blake, president of McKesson Specialty. “Heather’s tremendous insight will help drive us to the next level of reimbursement and patient access services.”

The addition of Heather Morel highlights McKesson’s focus on rapid growth and leadership in specialty pharmaceuticals, the fastest-growing segment of the healthcare market. The most significant evidence of this objective was McKesson Specialty’s recent acquisition of Oncology Therapeutic Network (OTN), one of the nation’s largest distributors of specialty drugs servicing 3,500 oncologists, 1,500 rheumatologists and other providers.

Morel, a talented speaker, earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Penn State and an M.B.A. from Arizona State University. She resides in Scottsdale, Ariz., with her husband and their daughter.
