There are so many aspects of SEO you have to take into account. You have offpage SEO, which involves managing things like social media, and you have on-page SEO, which is all about everything on your website. Optimizing your website will ensure that you’re getting the most from your web platform.

These six tricks are going to help you optimize your site.

Adopt a One Page One Keyword Strategy

Trying to cram lots of different keywords onto each page will lead to disaster. More than one keyword makes it impossible for Google to actually understand what your page is all about. If they’re unable to figure out what your page is all about, you can forget about trying to rank highly.

Stick to one keyword per page to make it clear that you are focusing on a specific niche. Google will thank you for it.

Include the Keyword in the Title Tag

Your title tag is the headline of your page. This is the first thing that the Google bot reads when they scour your website. As with all first impressions, this is something that you have to get right from the start. If you mess it up, the chances are that Google is going to get confused and you’re going to rank for the wrong keywords.

The title tag is also what will appear in the indexes, so your target market is going to see this as well. As you can understand, you have to make it natural and you have to make it enticing.

Your Keyword Should Be at the Top of Your Content

Google will read the first few lines of your content first, and that’s why it’s considered to be the most important. You can sprinkle your keyword throughout the content, but you should include at least one mention at the top. This will immediately tell Google how they should categorize your content.

This doesn’t mean that you should include it over and over again. Keep it to a single mention and make sure it fits in naturally with what’s being said.

Get Fast Loading Times

Google considers which sites to rank partly by how quickly they load. Google confirmed this themselves, which had websites scrambling to check their loading times. You should check how quickly your website loads through using many of the free tools available online.

To boost loading times, you should condense the code on the page, reduce the size of any images, and remove anything that has anything to do with Flash.

Link to Authority Websites

Google only ranks websites on the first page if they are authority resources. Sites that link out to quality resources are always to get priority over everyone else. If it fits in naturally, link out to prominent websites. You don’t have to expect anything from them in return.

Try to stick to non-competing websites in your content.

Use Internal Linking for Core Pages

The core pages of your website are where the majority of people will spend their time. Internal linking not only helps people find information easily, but they also enable search engines to better understand what your site is all about. The more information you can give them the better.

Bear in mind that you are working with bots, not humans, so you do have to spell it out to them.

Conclusion

Remember that the key to success is through working with Google and your target market. Make everything easy for them and they’ll reward you with a higher ranking.
