Siperian, Inc. – developers of an industry leading master data management (MDM) platform – announced that Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE: WY) – one of the world’s largest forest products companies – has deployed Siperian MDM Hub to manage master data related to customer, product, location and other entities. With approximately 20,000 employees in 13 countries world-wide, and 2007 sales in excess of $16 Billion, Weyerhaeuser deployed Siperian MDM Hub™ to be the single source of record for customer data to provision to their various lines of business and enterprise applications such as SAP. Future implementations will address additional enterprise master data like materials.

By leveraging Siperian, the Company was able to provide a complete 360 degree view of customer information across multiple divisions and locations. The MDM implementation also streamlined and standardized the end-to-end business process of maintaining customer master data.

As a result of multiple business systems requiring and maintaining both duplicative and unique master data, Weyerhaeuser discovered that critical master data was dispersed across numerous applications, data stores, and spreadsheets, creating complex data silos and the need for stricter data governance. As part of an overall Business Process Re-engineering initiative, the company made the decision to implement an Enterprise Resource Planning system that would consolidate their disparate supply chain systems. Weyerhaeuser selected Siperian as a part of the company’s long term master data management strategy and as the system-of-entry for the new ERP solution. Through its use of Siperian MDM Hub, Weyerhaeuser has streamlined customer-facing, global business processes and is now optimizing the use of its data assets.

“Initially, Weyerhaeuser reviewed a number of competitive options for our MDM initiative. The Siperian solution was selected because of its superior ability to handle multiple data entities under a single master data management platform, data accuracy, and fast time to value,” commented Chris Vike, Director of Enterprise Information Management at Weyerhaeuser. “Siperian was instrumental in helping us achieve an accurate, consistent and trustworthy view of our global customer data assets.”

“Manufacturing companies are looking to increase profitability and streamline critical processes across all lines of business while improving customer centricity,” commented Peter Caswell, president and CEO of Siperian. “Siperian MDM Hub accelerates and improves the benefits anticipated from their enterprise-wide CRM/ERP investments. Our cost-effective delivery enables our customers to realize the maximum value from these systems, create and manage the best version of truth, and consolidate disparate applications or source systems associated with data migration or consolidation projects.”
