The Business Phone Announces Joint Venture With Gulf Development Network in Qatar

Cards Middle East 2007, Dubai, May 14 – The Business Phone Plc, global provider of the only combined mobile phone payment terminal and Gulf Development Network today announced the formation of The Business Phone (Gulf) to market and sell secure mobile payment solutions across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) from the company’s headquarters in Doha.

Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Althani, Chairman of The Business Phone (Gulf) and member of the ruling family in Qatar, commented: “We believe that our mobile payment solutions will take MENA by storm. We have an extensive network of contacts in the banking, business and Government communities across the MENA countries who will be extremely interested in our proposition. We feel confident that The Business Phone (Gulf) will be highly successful”.

John Paul Fraser has joined The Business Phone (Gulf) as Managing Director with responsibility for the day-to-day management of the organization as well as business development.

Sean Owens has been appointed as Director of Operations with responsibility for technology and business development support and strategic partnerships across the Middle East and North Africa. Prior to joining The Business Phone, Sean was the Senior Manager for EMEA at WAY Systems Inc., manufacturer of the MTT 1570. Sean brings over 10+ years experience in the eftPOS acquiring and Value Added Services (VAS) integration in the electronic payments arena.
