Impressive Achievements Mark Continued Success of Technology Innovation Leader as Customers Obtain as Much as 300% ROI in First Year Alone

Securent, Inc., the award-winning leader in Entitlement Management, today outlined several key milestones that signal both the company’s success in the marketplace and the fast-growing importance of Entitlement Management to security- and compliance-conscious businesses around the globe. The Securent Entitlement Management SolutionTM (EMS) enables organizations to meet their application and data security requirements by securing access to sensitive applications and information with unmatched fine-grained, policy-driven controls and visibility.

According to Burton Group, entitlement management is a key component of identity-based access controls, one of the hottest areas of the Identity Management (IdM) market. This is being driven by CIOs, CSOs and enterprise architects calling upon maturing Entitlement Management solutions that meet the demands created by the who-can-access-what and who-had-access-to-what-when-and-where regulatory requirements as defined by Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Basel Capital Accord (Basel II), and the National Association of Securities Dealers Rule 2711 (NASD 2711).

“Clearly, we are in the right place at the right time, as the world’s leading companies have realized that Entitlement Management is the answer to the mushrooming access control problem. With our production-hardened solution in use by a growing number of Fortune 1000 organizations, Securent EMS continues to tackle some of the most pressing security and compliance challenges faced by enterprises today,” said Rajiv Gupta, CEO of Securent.

Growth in the Emerging Entitlement Management Market
Securent has achieved several key milestones that demonstrate its continued success in the marketplace, while at the same time reflecting the explosive demand for Entitlement Management solutions:

? The company has enjoyed quarter-over-quarter revenue growth in excess of 100 percent over the last three quarters, demonstrating an escalating need for Entitlement Management solutions and validating Securent’s technology leadership and deep domain expertise.

? In May, the company launched a major new release of Securent EMS as the compliance and information security efforts of businesses continue to demand management and enforcement of user entitlements consistently across heterogeneous applications, data, and services throughout the entire enterprise. The Securent solution now provides customers with rich policy-driven access controls that deliver precise granularity, robust performance, and streamlined auditing. The company’s solution for fine-grained entitlement management significantly reduces the time and cost of deploying line-of-business applications, portals, collaboration platforms, and unified messaging systems.

? Earlier this year, Securent was the first in the industry to deliver an Entitlement Management solution for databases, with support for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Sybase. Addressing a critical gap in existing database security tools, Securent can protect unstructured data in a database based on configurable policies that can be consistently applied, easily audited, quickly deployed, and fine-grained enough to provide only the necessary subset of data pertinent to the context of the access request.

? Other key milestones include an agreement with Sun Microsystems to integrate EMS with Sun’s identity management portfolio and support for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Securent is the first in the industry to deliver an Entitlement Management solution that supports SharePoint, enabling organizations to deploy SharePoint enterprise-wide to drive collaboration between employees and business partners while meeting their security and compliance requirements.

Analysts Describe the Maturation of Entitlement Management
Top industry analysts note that the convergence of market drivers—including growing internal security threats, stricter compliance requirements, de-perimeterization — and the emergence of maturing Entitlement Management products, has led to the unbridled market growth reflected in Securent’s performance. Also driving demand is customer self-service over the Internet and the increasing use of customer information for business efficiency, requiring ‘need to know’ security entitlements to ensure policy compliance regarding access to that information.

Gartner’s Roberta J. Witty noted that many companies have turned to Entitlement Management “to solve the authorization management problem – the ‘holy grail’ of IAM.” “Application-level authorization largely remains siloed in individual applications, each with its own access control system. This creates inflexibility, inconsistent policy enforcement and redundant manual administration. It’s time to take security policy administration out of applications and into externalized application authorization management services.”

Gerry Gebel, VP and Service Director at Burton Group, went on to explain why Entitlement Management solutions are providing the answer to today’s identity management problems. “Entitlement Management and finer-grained authorization aren’t new disciplines. However, new approaches and market drivers are leading to the emergence of a distinct category of product within the overall identity management market,” he said. “Contemporary Entitlement Management products offer a standards-based mechanism for externalizing more security decision processes from application logic – a longtime goal for IT architects.”

Jonathan Penn, VP and Research Director, Forrester Research, said that Securent is addressing a neglected part of identity management: “fine-grained authorization with sophisticated policies based on a range of data that could be both dynamically determined and application specific.”
