Cleveland, Ohio – March 10, 2008 – PreEmptive Solutions today launched its Evaluation Process Management (EPM) Service, a ground-breaking combination of software plus managed-services that provides unprecedented visibility into – and control – over commercial software evaluations and beta software deployments.

Software evaluations are typically unmanaged, offering little or no visibility into prospect activity. Any information that may be gathered must be manually entered into customer and sales management systems, making software evaluations expensive, risky and difficult to manage.

PreEmptive Solutions, leveraging its Dotfuscator instrumentation technology, now has the ability to “inject”, analytics and, optionally, Microsoft’s own licensing technology into software applications without the need for additional programming, access to application source code or incremental product releases. This offering gives independent software vendors (ISVs) the option to transform their evaluations into invaluable sources of product and prospect business intelligence. The EPM Service improves sales and support responsiveness, shortens sales cycles, reduces waste and increases win rates.

“The only thing that software sales people hate more than losing a sale is submitting to a prolonged product evaluation,” said Sebastian Holst, SVP, Sales and Marketing for PreEmptive Solutions. “The Evaluation Process Management Service transforms the software evaluation process from an unmanaged, high risk sales activity to a competitive advantage, increasing win rates and reducing the cost of sale. Further, our approach protects the intellectual property inside evaluation software and reduces the risk of piracy.”

When applied to beta software, the identical process of injecting analytics and activation technology optimizes beta programs, improves early adopter satisfaction and increases new release impact and value.

“The evaluation and beta process management offering from PreEmptive Solutions is a compelling example of how managed services can be seamlessly integrated into on-premises applications,” said David Appel, senior product manager, Platform Strategy Group at Microsoft Corp. “PreEmptive Solutions’ software plus services approach looks to improve application value for developers and consumers alike.”

The EPM service starts at $15,000 USD per year and includes:
•Professional services to instrument a customer application for both analytics and activations
•A subscription to the PreEmptive Runtime Intelligence Service providing access and analytics
•Optional instrumentation of Microsoft Software Licensing and Protection Services to manage activations and expirations
•Optional CRM integration connecting evaluation and beta activity to named users
•End-user training to view and export runtime intelligence information
