This is the latest in a series of weekend posts highlighting a wide variety of applications we think are pretty cool. Most have to do with sales, marketing and productivity. Check out past featured apps here.
I’m not a very scientific blog writer. I know I should be focusing more on particular SEO keywords up front, but I prefer to write content I think our readers would care about and learn from first and foremost.
But even if I write to my readers first, I can optimize for SEO in real-time, right within WordPress, with Inbound Writer. It’s a WordPress app that automatically analyzes your draft post after you’ve written at least 200 words. It then gives you an SEO score of between 1 and 100, and gives you specific advice on how to improve the SEO value of your post.
For example, it’ll tell you you’re just one keyword reference away from ranking for that keyword (most likely). Or that you should add a particular keyword closer to the top of the post.
Sometimes I ignore its advice if I think it will compromise the quality or value of my content. But when I follow its advice and get an SEO score of 75 or higher, I can definitely tell a difference in search rankings and long-term traffic volume.
