Thanks to the CMO Exchange, sometimes short and succinct can be powerful. What are other CMO’s planning to invest in this year? Are you surprised the top is forecasting and trend analysis? What tools or resources do you think will be on the list?
The total percentage of CMOs who are investing in these tools and solutions in the next 6 months or year:
- Forecasting, trend analysis (59%)
- Measuring the market, a focus on Return on Investment(47%) – This seems to be in line with survey results that indicate measurement is one of the top challenges for marketers. Looking forward to seeing our industry make some strides in this area
- Cell phone marketing(41%) – Smart phone usage is definitely increasing and showing no signs of slowing down. Where do you think this budget would be best spent? Responsive design? SMS campaigns?
- Corporate Responsibility Management(41%)
- Overseeing customer experience (41%) – To oversee the experience is good but to actively engage and proactively enhance the customer experience would be smarter
- Special approaches to branding (41%) – This category is unclear but if 41% are planning to invest in it, my educated guess is many will be incorporating better branding across social channels. Do you agree?
- Innovation plans (38%) – Innovation can be effective as long as you have a solid foundational strategy
- Assimilating multi-channels (38%)
- Analyzing social media outlets (38%) – Surprised this was not higher on the list
- Focusing on online communities (35%) – This should be in a CMO’s top 3 or at least top 5
