Following are all the tasks I feel that small business owners, entrepreneurs, and direct sales professionals need to have in place to maximize their use of Facebook for business. This list assumes you have a Fan Page and #4-12 apply to Fan Pages only. Do you have any to add? Leave them in the comments!

  1. Use an extended profile picture.
  2. Fill out the “write something about” boxes on Profile and Fan Page.
  3. Fill out all sections of Info tabs on Profile and Fan Page.
  4. Create a Welcome page using Static FBML, and set it to default for non-fans.
  5. Create a Subscribe page using Static FBML and e-news code, then move to sidebar.
  6. Use involver.come to create YouTube channel/favorites tab.
  7. Get a custom username for both Profile and Fan Page.
  8. Install buttons/boxes/widgets for the Fan Page on other websites and e-news.
  9. Use Networked Blogs to pull in blog feed as it’s published.
  10. Add LinkedIn Profile app to put the LinkedIn button on your Fan Page’s sidebar.
  11. Connect Fan Page to Twitter account (one way – going to Twitter)
  12. Post Events from Fan Page, then Share/Invite to Profile connections as well.
