Everyone has heard of Amazon.com. The company, which began as an online bookstore in 1995, sells nearly everything a consumer might possibly need. The company sells electronics, household items, and even online video rentals. Nearly half of Amazon.com‘s sales come from third-parties. Third-party sellers are those who use Amazon.com’s portal to sell their own wares, which are then directly shipped to consumers.
One of the outstanding features of Amazon.com is its excellent customer service. It is truly rare to find an individual who has suffered from a problem with Amazon.com that was not quickly resolved by customer service agents.
Prime examples of Amazon.com’s customer service can be found on the company’s own website. Amazon.com allows customers to leave positive and negative reviews, knowing that most will be positive. The company encourages interaction on its Facebook page as well. A recent conversation between Greg G. from Hempstead, NY and a service rep from Amazon.com shows the company’s dedication to customer service excellence:
All of these comments took place in less than one hour. Amazon.com has customer service agents at the ready throughout the day. The company knows that happy customers are those that are serviced quickly and cheerfully.
I have been purchasing from Amazon.com for over a decade. In that time, I have only had one problem. A few months ago I purchased the book “The Four Steps to the Epiphany” by Steven Gary Blank. The book was $25.84 (a great book about customer development, I highly recommend it) by the way. When I noticed that I was double charged, I called Amazon.com and the charges were reversed. There was no lengthy on hold time, no arguing with a rep, and no waiting for a resolution. This kind of behavior has helped Amazon.com to become the multi-billion dollar company that it is today.
Nowhere is customer satisfaction more apparent than on social media. A recent happy customer penned the following on Amazon.com’s Facebook wall:
Do you have any good or bad examples of customer service with Amazon.com? Please let us know about it in comments.
