Customer Service is not Dead

It appears in this day and age that customer service is a distance memory when you have issues with your internet service, phone, etc. You sit on hold for hours and get passed around a couple dozen times, through a couple countries only to find that the first person you chatted with was the correct person.

I was talking to Kenny Burts with Kenny’s Great Pies last week on what he did for one of his clients. I think you can guess what Kenny’s Great Pies does so I will not explain in detail.

One of the major food chains was holding a big meeting with all of the regional presidents and one of his contacts there wanted to serve his pies in the meeting. His contact called him one day before the big meeting and asked if Kenny’s team could ship the pies up to them.

Kenny had a choice…he could ship the pies overnight or have someone drive 7 hours through the night. If he shipped the pies, they could be lost, late, or damaged which he did not want to take. Not only did he decide to drive the pies 7 hours, he drove all those miles himself.

If you read his website you will find the following which explains on why he personally delivered the pies; “excellence in everything we do and Service that exceeds expectations.” That is certainly top of the line customer service and I am proud of my friend and his company for keeping customer service alive.
