ChosenSecurity Cross-Certifies with SAFE-BioPharma? Bridge Certificate Authority

ChosenSecurity along with TransSped, selected by SAIC to offer EU Qualified Certificates as an Integrated Security Solution for the Biopharmaceutical Industry

NEWTON, MA – May 6, 2008 – ChosenSecurity, Inc., the leading provider of On-Demand Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) security services, today announced that it has cross-certified with the SAFE-BioPharma Bridge Certificate Authority and will offer digital certificates for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. The SAFE-BioPharma digital identity and signature standard provides a secure, enforceable, and regulatory-compliant way to sign business-to-business and business-to-regulator electronic transactions within the biopharmaceutical and healthcare industries. ChosenSecurity and its partner TransSped srl have been selected by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAIC], a scientific, engineering, and technology applications company that provides identity and access management solutions, to provide a Certification Authority service that is integrated into SAIC’s solution for industry.

Cross-certification with the SAFE-BioPharma Bridge enables ChosenSecurity to offer digital certificates to the growing pharmaceutical community. It is essential to have certificates for processes, such as signing lab tests, lab results or medical papers, to enable them to stand up in a court of law. As an international company, ChosenSecurity’s high standards in issuing digital certificates meet the strict requirements of the European Union (EU).

“The biopharmaceutical industry established SAFE-BioPharma as an interoperable digital identity and signature standard. SAFE-BioPharma is now being used in a variety of business functions and technology environments,” said Dean Coclin, ChosenSecurity’s Vice President of Business Development. “ChosenSecurity, with its expertise, is squarely positioned to successfully support SAFE-BioPharma implementations and extend security solutions to the biopharmaceutical industry.”

In addition to offering certificates directly to the biopharmaceutical industry, ChosenSecurity will be offering certificates with SAIC, as part of an integrated security solution. SAIC selected ChosenSecurity based on the company’s years of experience and presence in Europe and having already met the EU standards and approval of strong authentication and hardware requirements.

“We are delighted to work with ChosenSecurity and offer an integrated service offering,” said Guy Tallent, Vice President of Identity and Access Management, SAIC.

The SAFE-BioPharma digital standard was established by the biopharmaceutical industry to help it transform to a fully electronic environment from inefficient paper-based business and regulatory processes. SAFE-BioPharma provides a high level of trust assurance for digital identities, which are uniquely bound to corresponding digital signatures.

“By cross-certifying with the SAFE-BioPharma Bridge, ChosenSecurity will be able to offer certificates to our member companies that can be used in support of global business and regulatory transactions,” said Mollie Shields-Uehling, President and CEO, SAFE-BioPharma. “We are pleased they were selected by SAIC to participate in offering this important integrated solution to the biopharmaceutical industry.”
