MARATHON EVOLUTION to capture ground and satellite transmissions

Hoesbach/Germany, July 12, 2007 – ASC (www.asctelecom.com), a leading global provider of innovative solutions to record, analyze and evaluate communications, today announced it will install a MARATHON EVOLUTION communications recording solution at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC), the control center of the European Space Agency (ESA).

The system will document all transmissions over ESOC’s communications network for ground control of ESA satellites. The solution will help verify the proper functioning of spacecraft, clarify unexpected incidents and evaluate the achievement of mission objectives.

ESOC controls the transfer of spacecraft to their final orbit and the activation of their satellite payload. After confirming proper functioning of the satellite, it monitors routine operations to ensure achievement of mission objectives.

During this process, the control room must communicate with the network of all ESA ground stations. ASC’s MARATHON EVOLUTION will be linked to this real-time communications network upon its installation in mid-July.

MARATHON EVOLUTION, with its scaleable channel array, captures and records all interactions from eight up to thousands of channels simultaneously. The system may be configured to record, live monitor and archive diverse communications from one location and to provide search and replay capabilities locally or via LAN / WAN, intranets or the Internet.
