Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — June 30, 2008 — alfabet Inc., the leading software provider in strategic IT planning and management, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the leaders quadrant in the “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture Tools” report (Gartner, Inc. “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Application Tools” by Greta A. James, June 17, 2008).

“We believe our position in the Leaders Quadrant in the Magic Quadrant reflects our vision, thought-leadership and operational excellence, which manifests itself in our rapidly growing global customer base,” said Erik Masing, CEO and president of alfabet. “Our remarkable advancements during the past year confirm the market validation of alfabet’s unique approach to enterprise architecture. Our modular solution, planningIT, is the only solution that integrates enterprise architecture into the strategic IT management process. This gives our clients the ability to harvest their enterprise architecture activities downstream in the form of fast and accurate planning cycles, secure IT investments and effective business and IT transformations. Consequently, demand for our solution has significantly taken off since corporations realize that IT needs to be managed with a collaborative information system, just as other areas of the enterprise have been managed for years.”

A total of 13 vendors were evaluated in the Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Architecture tools report.
To be included in this Magic Quadrant, “a vendor must have a product (or integrated set of products) that meet the minimum requirements for an EA tool described previously.

The report notes that “The minimum requirements of an EA tool are:

— A repository

— A metamodel that supports the business, information and technology viewpoints, as well as solution architectures. The repository should also support relationships among and between objects in these viewpoints or architectures.

— Ability to present repository information to support stakeholder needs, including in graphical, text and executable forms.”

All vendors were required to demonstrate that they are being used in production to support EA work in at least 50 organizations, and user references were checked. Additionally, when the list of vendors was finalized on November 29, 2007, the vendor must have derived at least $2 million in license and maintenance revenue during the previous reporting year from products that are used for enterprise architecture or have exhibited an innovative approach to addressing the market’s needs.”

According to the report, “As organizations grapple with the need to understand and relate multiple aspects of their enterprise architecture (EA), the EA tool market continues to attract considerable interest and benefit from enhanced functionality.”
