Glacier-Dick-Wooden-CRM-ConsultantWhile traveling on vacation in the great state of Alaska this summer Carlie and I got to experience the awesomeness of the world of Glaciers. Two of the national parks were: Kenai Fjords through Seward and Glacier Bay near Gustavus.

Hearing about the “life” of the glaciers and being up close is an experience we’ll remember forever. In this picture is myself and my wife, Carlie, holding a piece of an recently shed ice berg…. cool!

While there I came across the following points on “Advice from a Glacier” that could also be applied to greatness in business development. These are similar characteristics found in successful entrepreneurs that we get to work within our business.

Carve your own path

Lots of businesses get started by entrepreneurial spirited people who want to carve their own path and set plans to get their goals achieved. That freedom does have a cost and requires an investment.

Go slow

Create your plan and work your plan. Lots of successful baby steps done consistently lead to success.

Channel your strengths

We are a big proponent of understanding the strengths of yourself and your team. Success with strengths can be found here.

Smooth the way for others

One of the roles of a business leader is to help your team become more successful. Provide the resources to help them become more productive. If they are involved in sales, marketing and customer service they need contact management systems.

Keep moving forward

Forward progress is a strong motivation and getting things done keeps you moving forward to your business and personal goals.

Avoid meltdowns

By using your strengths, focusing of your strategic value, getting things done and serving your customers for remarkable experiences those meltdowns are avoided.

Be Cool!

How cool is it when your investment in business relationships lead to referrals and to new business.
