I couldn’t help wandering about the significance of the two p’s in entrepreneurship and it finally dawned on me. They stand for Profit and Passion and they need to work together to drive success.

If you are driven only by profit and are intent on becoming the next Warren Buffett or Bill Gates, you may well achieve that goal but may not enjoy the road you need to travel on and ultimately become very familiar with the inside of your doctor’s office.

If on the other hand you are driven by passion, really believe in what you are doing and neglect the profit side of the business you may thoroughly enjoy what you do but get to become familiar with the inside of your bankruptcy attorney’s office.

Only when these two P’s become like ebony and ivory living together in perfect harmony on your entrepreneurial keyboard can you be assured of success. And by success we mean a profitable business that you thoroughly enjoy and that you wake up everyday and run to so you can run it as if this were your last day.
