Before I started creating my own video content I noticed when I watched some YouTube videos, as soon as it reached the end all of these other “suggested videos” popped up. It was a little annoying, but I probably won’t have thought more about it except I watched videos on other blogs and didn’t see the same thing.
When I started to put up my own videos, I knew that I wanted to keep my reader’s attention focused where I was, and not on someone else’s (e.g. competitor’s) stuff. My intent is to engage my readers here, so offering up other content for their already stretched attention spans didn’t seem like a good idea.
So if you want to include video content on your side, how do you get rid of those pesky suggested videos?
It’s actually pretty simple, but you have to remember to do it for each video you embed:
- Go to the YouTube page for your video
- Click on the “Embed” button
- Uncheck the “Include Related Videos” box (which is checked by default)
- Then copy/paste your code and you are good to go!
As a note, if you already have videos embedded, you have to repost the code once you’ve unchecked the box to have the change take effect.
Happy Tuesday!
