A couple of weeks ago I had a chance to meet Kellan Duffy of Move Your Mass. Kellan is part of a Triangle BNI group for North Raleigh, NC. During the meeting Kellan shared a little extra that she does for her clients. I thought it was awesome and asked Kellan if she’d write about it.

In Kellan’s words:

They say a picture speaks a 1000 words…..

For me this image definitely does and helps explain why I chose my Purple Goldfish. In my youth and into young adulthood, I struggled with being overweight, subsequent eating disorders, poor self-image and low self-confidence.  Over the years exercise became the best form of therapy, but my self-confidence still lagged far behind. In 2008 my marriage dissolved. It’s only been in the last five years that I have experienced tremendous growth. You can clearly see my progress through a new series of photos with just how far I’ve come.

Today I am happy with a business I created called Move Your Mass.  I specialize in working with women with Health, Wellness & Fitness Coaching. In my studio, we build self-confidence and self-image as well as help achieve fitness/weight loss goals. Because seeing myself in pictures was so valuable to me, my Purple Goldfish to my clients upon completion of their personal weight loss goals is a professional make-up application and professional photo shoot alongside a picture of how they looked when they started. When they look at the before and after, they can truly see the changes and appreciate how far they have come in their journey to becoming healthier, fitter version of themselves.

Kudos to Kellan for creating a memorable and truly signature extra for her clients. A fun incentive for those clients who achieve their goals. Seeing is a big part of believing.

Today’s Lagniappe (a little something extra thrown in for good measure) – As a follow-up to Evolution, here is a recent campaign by Unilever called Dove Real Beauty Sketches. It speaks volumes to the power of a positive self image:
