Carrying the Word

There is a tradition in the Judaism during religious services that the holy Torah scroll (the 5 Books of Moses- part of the Old Testament), is taken out of its ark and paraded around the sanctuary for all to see. It is a joyous time in the religious service since “the Word” is literally being carried around. It is traditional for people to kiss the Torah as a sign of good fortune.

I have had the opportunity to carry the Torah on occasion. It is an exhilarating experience. Imagine doing something where:

1. Everyone wants to see you.
2. Everyone wants to talk to you
3. Everyone wants to kiss what you are carrying

You know have the picture of what it is like to carry the Torah. Talk about feeling popular! But, without realizing it, if you are in small business, this is actually what you do on a daily basis.

In the business world, we are all carrying the word. Whether this be a solution to a customer’s problem or an inspirational bit that helps that person get through the day.

How do you carry the word? What can you do to help others carry the word?
