Joe Pulizzi presented some interesting data at the HubSpot conference in Boston, the New England Content Strategy Meetup, including the chart found here.

Here are some key data he presented:

  • 36% of marketers say their biggest marketing challenge is Creating Engaging Content
  • 31% of marketers say their biggest challenge in Creating Enough Content

How do we as marketers deal with these challenges?

To create compelling content, I recommend you go back to human nature. What do people enjoy? You want to create content using what I call it The LSL model.

  1. They love to laugh (L)
  2. They love to hear a good story (S)
  3. They love to learn something new and interesting (L)

If you want to create content the engages your audience of target buyers, I recommend you use the LSL model. When you create content, be it a white paper, e-book, webinar, podcast, seminar, etc., as yourself which of the LSL categories your content addresses. Does it entertain, tell a story or educate?

Use the LSL model and watch your business grow!

What do you think? Do you have other suggestions – we’d love to hear them. And we love to read your comments and invite you to share this on social networks.
