User personas are a challenging yet most important thing to understand when it comes to web designing. UX or user experience has been a debatable topic for quite long. While every app development company or UX designer has their own way or perception of user experience, there are some tested and fail-proof tips and ideas that will help you understand the user experience in a better way.

Before we jump onto the tips, let’s understand what exactly comprises a user experience?

UX defines an individual’s thoughts, feelings and reactions towards a service, product or system. It is not just the end result of an attention-worthy design and great usability, rather brings together a lot of site elements and their impact on the user.

As a UX designer, you should be able to strike a difference between the business needs and the user needs.
When designing a website, the UX designer should primarily keep the user in the mind. There are things that completely shut off a user experience or interest, that must be avoided.

Here are some of the important aspects of a UX and their impact in increasing the overall UX.

  • Usability of the website
  • The usability of a website or an app is actually the mains. The user comes to a website with a purpose, you need to understand that purpose and then build it in a way that the purpose is fulfilled.

Take for instance food ordering site like Zomato. A person visits Zomato either to learn about, check review, of various food outlets across the city or to order delicacies from the popular food chains of the town. Here, the primary objective or usability of the app lies in its ability to let users order food through them, smoothly.

  • Appearance/Aesthetics of your website
  • As they say, the first impression is the last impression and we can’t deny it in case of your website as well. As soon as a user visits your website he notices the design, look and feel of the same. Aesthetics done right will make your website look appealing, pleasurable, effective and memorable at least for some time if not for a lifetime. Consider working on the aesthetics of your website and brace yourself to reap the positive results in form of low bounce rate, enhanced average time spent on the website per session and more.

  • Customer Service
  • Customer service though is not directly related to your website, but still has a huge impact on the user experience. You don’t want your customers to be mad about something for long. Make sure that your customer service is always up and effective resolving users’ queries and doubts quickly and in the most subtle way possible. Happy customers are the best customers and the loyal ones as well.

  • Create a brand consistency
  • Make sure that your brand is recognizable. Whether the user comes through mobile, PC, laptop or physical store, your brand should be easily differentiable and easy to remember.

The information which you share through your website must be useful, desirable, usable, findable, easily accessible and credible.

The above points help you understand the factors that impact UX of a website. Below are some points or tricks through which you can understand your users in a better way. So keep reading.

1. Indulge in deep user research

Building great user experience begins with understanding your users. You can do that by conducting user research, demanding feedback, surveys etc. Include all possible questions related to the service in the form or questionnaire. The answers can act as building blocks of creating a website that enhances user experience.

2. Track the user clicks

Keep a tab on what section or button the users tend to click first when they visit your website. This will help you identify the easiest navigation of your website. Navigation should be simple enough to let the user attain his objective of visiting your website.

3. Build focus groups

Focus groups are a team of 10-15 people who especially focuses on users’ experience, beliefs, desires, attitudes, and reactions. They are an important part of market research. Most of the app development companies deploy focus groups to help and identify apps target audiences’ taste and preferences.

4. Web analytics

Web analytics refers to the collection, reporting and deep analysis of the website data. The web analytics will let you gain information on what type of users are visiting your website, traffic sources, geographical spread, demographics etc.

Conclusion

To run an effective website you should first know your target audience. Not everyone who comes to your site is your customer. However, you can ensure that every visitor turns into a potential lead by building a great user experience. You can even hire UX designers or agency that will help you in creating an effective website.

  1. Nice article! Completely agree that great UX is important. The website should be optimized mobile, starting from images and finishing mobile payment gateways. Navigation should be easy and intuitive for your customers to find needed information quickly and hassle-free. Plus, we shouldn’t forget product page optimization. Some customers, e.g. me, like detailed product descriptions, others favor clear and appealing images. Our goal as e-commerce owners is to provide the best UX to our clients.
