NEW YORK, N.Y., Feb. 9, 2012 –[x+1], www.xplusone.com, the leader in digital marketing hub technology, announced today it has hired Tom Zawacki, founder of social commerce pioneer Lemonade Inc., as Vice President, Western Region, a new company position. His responsibilities include client strategy, client service and new business development in the region. He will be based in Los Angeles.
Zawacki said he will bring to [x+1] the same spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that led Lemonade Inc. to become one of the first companies to enable commerce within Facebook, for which it was named the Time Magazine/CNN Website of the Year in 2007.
“At Lemonade, we helped Fortune 1000 clients increase their digital marketing ROI by combining e-commerce with social networking to create a powerful new industry called social commerce,” he said. “This led to significant business performance results, and I believe [x+1] brings to the table that same type of compelling value proposition.”
“I believe the [x+1] Origin platform and data management capabilities help companies realize their digital marketing vision faster, and in a more integrated way,” Zawacki continued. “[x+1] has consistently demonstrated that its digital marketing hub moves clients from disparate digital marketing to unified relevant marketing. I want to be a part of that.”
Zawacki brings global leadership experience, having run worldwide digital marketing programs in Europe, South America and Asia-Pacific, and most recently social commerce programs in the UK and China. He has provided strategic consulting to Fortune 1000 brands across multiple industries, including financial, consumer packaged goods, technology, automotive, media, entertainment and travel.
Prior to Lemonade Inc., Zawacki headed up experiential marketing and innovation for Life LLC, working with major brands such as Phillips, Disney, Hewlett-Packard and ESPN.
At Modem Media, now Publicis Modem, Zawacki was employee number four and served on the executive management team, along with [x+1] Chairman and CEO John Nardone, who was President, International and [x+1] President and COO Peter Massey, who was Senior Vice President/General Manager. Together they helped lead an evolution from business to e-business while growing the company to 1,000 employees in 11 offices worldwide, achieving a successful IPO in 1999 and selling it to Digitas in 2004.
“Tom’s groundbreaking work with Lemonade Inc., where he helped create the category of social commerce, demonstrates that he is not only a visionary, but also one with exceptional operational and leadership experience,” said Nardone. “All of these are valuable assets he will use to build up our client base and operations in the Western region.”
