A few years ago there was no question that the most common screen resolution on target customer computers was 1024×768. As the table below shows, this is changing…

1280×800 36.88%
1024×768 24.69%
1440×900 20.12%
1280×1024 16.99%
1680×1050 1.33%

The common denominator is still 1024×768, if you want to embrace the largest proportion of target viewers, but 75% of audience computers now have higher resolution.
