appoftheweekBack in my PR days, when we had clients doing press interviews or going on briefing tours to meet editors in person, we put together extensive briefing materials.  In fact, developing the briefing book (delivered in a bound format just prior to a media tour) was a huge undertaking for junior staff.  It included compiling details about the editor’s background, coverage trends, recent articles or reviews, etc.

It was a ton of work.

Of course, today, the Internet can do all of that work for you.  Enter Charlie.

Charlie works primarily on Gmail currently, but the team is working on a similar product for Outlook/Exchange.

What Charlie does is simple but amazing.  Before your next meeting, you get an email summarizing key details about every participant – their likeness and biography, recent social media activity, anything that’s had them in the news recently, content they may have authored recently, common hobbies and interests, etc.  It’s a comprehensive dossier right when you need it.

Imagine what this could mean for your next meeting, sales pitch, partner briefing, etc.  You walk in with relevant information, plus can cite recent content or social posts as ice breakers that also make you look extremely well prepared.

One of the best apps I’ve seen to immediately make you more effective, efficient and prepared for what’s next on your schedule.
