Lloyd James bucks recession and expands with new London office

Lloyd James Group announced today that it is bucking the trend of cutting back in the face of recession and is instead expanding its operations with the opening of a new London office, after adding three new staff in the first quarter.

The data solutions provider, which was headquartered in Welling, Kent, has set up an office in Covent Garden in central London. The company also plans to take on more staff in the coming months.

Lynn Stevens, Lloyd James Group’s Managing Director, commented: “With the recent expansion of our sales force, it makes sense for us to have a central London location and from now on we will be jointly based in Covent Garden and Welling with Welling being the production/data centre and Covent Garden housing the core of our sales team. This gives us more flexibility and makes it easier for clients and other industry contacts to see us at whichever location is more convenient for them.”

Lloyd James, the company’s chairman, added: “When I first launched my business 19 years ago, there was a recession on but we grew the company then and have continued to do so. You can either go into a holding pattern, just hoping to survive, as a way of coping with economic turmoil, or you can actively go out and find the opportunities that do exist in the marketplace and make the most of them. We have resolved to continue finding openings in our market and, as a result, have kept building our business regardless of the difficult economic climate. And we are encouraging our clients to do the same.”

The opening of the new office comes after the company made three new appointments in the first three months of 2009:

• Kathryn Eley has joined the firm as Business Development Manager from venue management firm Firoka Group where she was Sales Manager. Kathy has held a number of sales and business development roles during her career, which includes a 15-year stint with Royal Mail.

• Nicky Taylor has joined Lloyd James’ List & Media Management team and will be responsible for selling products across its portfolio. Prior to joining Lloyd James, Nicky was Client Services Manager at Independent Direct Marketing where she worked for eight years.

• Christian Worsley joins the company’s development team from infrastructure services provider Enterprise where he was Team Leader of the unit that developed mobile applications. Previously Chris was a software developer for seven years at In Touch, helping build an in-house database for the radio and mobile communications specialist.

Stevens noted: “Nicky and Kathy’s appointments strengthen our sales team. They both bring huge amounts of experience. Chris’s appointment is the first of several in our development team – we are planning to recruit two more developers imminently following recent new client wins

Lloyd James Group has signed a number of key new clients over the past year, including Global Radio, Bauer Consumer Media, Unite the Union, Jackpot and the Countryside Alliance. The company’s client list client list spans all industries and includes ACAS, Debenhams, Homebase, The Economist, O2, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and American Express Corporate.
