Management of change

Technology is moving forward very fast, and business process are doing the same. Due new corporate environment, cost reductions, new trends or any other reason, it is required perform different changes in organizations in order to keep the efficiency and competency. Consultancy roles are working hard in design and deploy all these changes in new systems and business process within companies, but what happen with the employees? We should not forget, a company is a group (big or small) of people working together for the same propose. And all these changes for sure will impact in the daily job of all these employees. Because of this (big bunch of quickly changes in different areas) a new role and activities is being required: management of change.

There is a lot of definitions in the web, for example the Wikipedia one. Each of these definition will define this concept, role or activity in a different way, but all of them have some point in common:

ROI: shareholders or owners of any company want quickly results. All the thoughts changes should be apply fast, and need to achieve the goal they were design for (as soon as possible)

New challenge: all the corporations has big challenge to face up. There are multiple reasons as tough competitors, new products, cost reductions, reorganizations, new technologies,.. But only a new strategy or big change could solve these problems

Adoption and Coaching: this is the only key point for the success. Users or employees are key, as they should adopt and start working with these new methods. It is important the continuous trainings, information and coaching. However, it is not only to learn how to work with new tools, but also why there changes were done and what the roadmap in this area. Training is important to understand new way of work but they should have coaching session also. These are important to set up correct core concepts.

Flexibility: we should break down this point in two different bullets points: company should be flexible enough to fine tune the new process or system as soon as a gap is find. The second bullet point is about employees flexibility, as they need to have a new mindset and understand the new scenario they will work in.

This seems to be a new concept, but it is not. During years and years, women and men faced different challenge and need to adopt their live to them. The main new characteristic now is how fast all the changes should be implemente in companies. This is why this new role is more required.
