Is Fear Making Your Decisions?

Did you ever notice how comfortable you can become with fear? So comfortable that you don’t even know that Fear is making decisions for you?

Oh sure, our conscious selves do believe that we’re fearless. We talk about stepping up, shooting straight in our business, taking bold actions. Yet subtle voices – demonstrations of inherent Gravity – tag along. Those are the voices that tell you not to step out of the comfort zone. Stay the course, don’t make the shift…

Take this example. I was sharing a personal decision with some friends on Twitter and unfortunately the D went out as a T. OOPS. I deleted it. Since it was Christmas morning and Twitter was fail whaling anyway, I decided it was no big deal.

About two hours later I received and email from a Tweep who’s a coach. A very well–intended email I know. I was stunned as I read it.

It was stuffed full of Fear. This magical coach poured out the reasons why I was making a mistake. The problem was, the reasons were based on their own experience and fears. My reality was far different. At first I was insulted by the fear being thrown into my face, but then – I had to laugh.

Yet another example of how insidious Gravity can be. Even the best of us can be stuck and not have a clue we’re in the tarpit, sinking into the bubbles.

We can advise others based on our fears, make business decisions and personal choices based on Gravity – and never even know that Fear is the guide we’re following.

How do you get Gravity born of Fear out of your Decisions?

Here’s my experience. Pay attention to the times when you push against something, come up with reasons why you can’t change, can’t try, can’t succeed. Or when you hang tightly onto something, a belief, a process. That’s how you find Gravity. Once you find the Gravityhow you find those familiar Fears. Once you find them – take them into account as a factor for your decisions – in business or your personal life.
