1. Increase your focus time by filtering activity by @mentions
With so much to do and so many conversations, it can be easy for messages to pile up. To avoid important things getting lost, use @ to tag your teammates to direct a message specifically to them. You can focus on the key conversations by filtering by @mentions.
2. Bookmark a message or content
The bookmark feature allows you to save a message, content, or attachment for later reading or helps you find the important information. Probably you have a ton of conversations going on with different teams and can’t keep up with it all.
How to do this:
You can also bookmark texts, images, or some other content in a conversation to check them out later. In a message, just click on the bookmark icon.
3. Like a message with thumbs up icon
Acknowledge that you’ve read a message or agree without having to type a reply.
How to do this:
Hover over a message and click on the thumbs up icon and like it.
4. Use Shift+Enter to start a new line
One of the most frustrating things about MS Teams is that pressing “Enter” on your keyboard might often send out your message before you’re ready.
How to do this:
When you want to start a new line or paragraph, press Shift+Enter to insert the line break, and you’re done.
5. Translate a message
Language is not a barrier anymore with MS Teams. Now work with people from around the world. The inline translation feature allows you to translate messages in 40 available languages.
How to do this:
Tap the ellipsis (three-dot) button next to the text in the conversation and select Translate.
6. Drag and drop your teams to order them the way you want
Our projects and priorities change. Moving your team order gives you the flexibility to put your priorities at the top and move them when you need to.
How to do this:
To reorder your teams, select Teams >>> Then click and drag the team name anywhere in your teams list.
7. How to manage a team
Teams are dynamic. New team members join while others leave. You can manage your teams – add owners, members, guests, and remove members who are no longer relevant to the team. If you are a team owner, you can also see all Channels and Apps in the team.
How to do this:
Click on the more option next to the team of your choice >>> select Manage team.
8. Format your messages
Never accidentally press “Send” again while creating a message masterpiece. Formatting on MS Teams works in similar ways to how it might format documents on Microsoft Word or Google Docs. You can add a title, mark the message as important, and add other rich text options, such as bullet points, highlighting, etc.
How to do this:
Select Format beneath the box where compose your message. And select the text you want to format. And then click Send once you’re done.
9. How to use the Organization tab in private chat
The Organization tab shows the org chart for your company, so when you’re having a one-on-one conversation with someone, you can see who they report to and who reports to them.
How to do this:
Open a chat with your colleague and click on “Organization”.
10. Turn a file into a tab
Teams make sharing and collaborating on files easy. That it’s easy to get carried away, and before you know it you’ve got a bunch of files in a channel and it’s hard to find the one you’re looking for. MS Teams allows you to turn a file into a Tab saves the day.
How to do this:
Head over to the files tab in your chat or channel. Click on the more options icon and next to your file Select Make this a tab.
11. GIFs and Stickers to have fun in Teams
Lighten up your conversation and have some fun! Share feelings, and moods. Get the real feels of the office by sending some cheers to your colleagues, or personalizing a sticker to create a perfect message to a teammate.
How to do this:
To send a GIF: Just select GIF beneath the message box. Use the search bar to look for something specific (like “cats dancing”) or browse the collection of popular GIFs.
To send a meme or sticker: Click Sticker under the box where you type your message. Then pick a meme or sticker from one of the categories.
