How the increasingly global economy demands you re-think your communication

With the rise of globalisation, the observed shift towards global teams communicating from all over the world has grown considerably. Now, and with the advancement of online collaboration tools, companies can run their businesses from almost anywhere.

Working on a project with clients or colleagues who aren’t within travelling distance can be challenging. Emailing can only take you so far before a more practical means of communication is required.

So, how does a company optimise their resources to improve communication, and in turn, productivity?

The rise of technology has given birth to platforms which allow teams to collaborate remotely, assisting with both inter-departmental work and collaborations between a client and business.

In 2013, an Avanade survey found that 77% of business professionals were using technologies enabling remote collaboration.

A recent 2017 survey conducted by PGi now reveals a stunning 88% of professionals use online collaboration tools at least once a week.

This data shows that more and more businesses are turning to online collaboration tools to communicate and work more effectively, a trend that is even more important with B2B projects.

When discussing innovative collaboration techniques used to improve the corporate industry across global teams, McKinsey Consultants found that the first barrier to communication was a lack of tools that engage in knowledge.

Once new tools and processes that allow online collaboration across multiple platforms are implemented, companies see a 20 – 30% improvement in productivity.

We’re now seeing more businesses opting to utilise online tools, rather than traditional face-to-face meetings. Companies are quick to realise that online collaboration technologies are easy to use, increase prioritisation, save time and money, boost employee productivity by improving work-life balance, and allow for all parties involved to work together, at the same time, from anywhere.

Take a second to think about how a service that allows for true remote collaboration can improve performance. Quick meetings, happy clients, no travelling time or costs, and increased budget for other projects. Online collaborations also allow for your client and you being able to edit a document at the same time whilst on a call together, increased efficiency and loss of misunderstandings.

Small business or large, online technology is becoming an increasingly vital part of how companies conduct business, and the way the industry is progressing. To be able to adapt to the changing environment, it is vital for companies to re-consider their use of online collaboration technology and if investing in the right kind will improve the way your business works.
