FREE + Chocolate = Great Marketing

Every now and again you come across a bit of marketing that makes you smile. This week it was the turn of English chocolatier Thorntons. For Easter, a team of 10 Thorntons chocolatiers spent 300 hours putting together a 4.4m by 2.9m billboard made up of 10 chocolate bunnies, 72 giant chocolate eggs and 128 chocolate panels, each weighting 2Kg. Over 390kg of pure chocolate in total! The chocolate billboard was erected in Covent Garden, London. Apparently it lasted all of three hours before shoppers ate the lot.

The word free still works, particularly when it is attached to the word chocolate.

Tip of the hat to Josie Morris at New Persuasion.

What do you think? Do you like chocolate? Do you like FREE chocolate? What a question!

Finish off your munching your own Easter Egg, post a comment and get the conversation going.
