If you want to bring corporate executives up to speed on innovation management as it happens in 2015 you should focus on these elements:
• give them a better understanding of what open innovation is and how this impacts an organization
• give them a better understanding of business model innovation and how this impacts innovation projects (go beyond products and technologies)
• develop better tools for managing “tolerance for failure” as innovation today requires more and more experimentation; not only on products and services but also on the innovation process itself
• give them a better understanding on how to learn from failure (a process is needed to capture the learnings from failed innovation projects)
• execution is key for innovation today and since people and processes are key to execution, they need a better understanding of the different types of people that you need at the different phases of innovation
Just a quick list. What would you add?
