Infographic Spotlights New Era of “Personal Brands”

VIENNA, VA – March 8, 2011 – Eloqua, the leading provider of Revenue Performance Management solutions, in partnership with data visualization firm JESS3, today released the “Message is the Messenger,” an infographic examining the influence and rise in multidimensional personal brands.

Flipping the Marshall McLuhan aphorism that “the medium is the message” on its head, this infographic demonstrates how the lines between trusted voices in the marketing, academia, advocacy, advisory, entrepreneurial and publishing worlds are becoming increasingly blurred.

The companies’ collaboration on the graphic serves as a complement for the SXSW panel “Media Tomorrow: The Message is the Messenger” moderated by Eloqua on March 13 at 3:30 CT. The session will explore the decline of organized media and its impact on sources of influence.

Eloqua’s Director of Content, Joe Chernov, who will moderate the panel, says the infographic is not meant to be a permanent, fixed catalogue, but rather it will evolve as this ground continues to shift.

“The Message is the Messenger is not intended to be a definitive list of personal brand types,” Chernov said. “Rather, it’s the beginning of something we want to build on in dynamic ways. It stands as a collection of the voices that inspire, provoke and ultimately influence the team that created it.”

JESS3 President and Co-Founder Leslie Bradshaw, who will join Chernov on the panel, added that this infographic marks a new era.

“In my parent’s generation, you were more likely to seek specificity of role and punctuation of vocation. Doctor, lawyer, journalist, manager. Pick one,” Bradshaw said. “In my generation, you have the ability to not only swim in multiple lanes at once, but you also have a whole new set of opportunities available thanks to technology.”

This design is the second SXSW-inspired infographic published by Eloqua and JESS3. Last week the companies unveiled The History of SXSW, which commemorates the festival’s 25th anniversary. Previous collaborations include award-winning content, such as The Blog Tree, The Future of Revenue and The Content Grid.

In addition to hosting the Media Tomorrow: The Message is the Messenger panel, Eloqua is also partnering with Bulldog Solutions to host “The Good, The Bad & The Thirsty,” a free kick-off party at Club Deville in downtown Austin on March 12 at 5:30 PM CT. Attendees can RSVP on Facebook. For every attendee who checks in at the event on Gowalla or foursquare, the hosts will donate $1 to Austin-based charity A Glimmer of Hope.
