This 3rd in my series of collections of tips tricks and resources for building an online presence features items that were posted to my Facebook Fan Page in October 2010. Enjoy!

  4. Did you notice? In your News Feed now, when a Fan Page story shows up, the comments are not shown below it. Only the “talk bubble” with the # next to it – you have to click that to read the comments/feedback. So be sure to click the bubble and jump into the conversation!

  10. If you have a WordPress site/blog, go to Plugins – Add New – search on “Google XML Sitemaps” and install, then activate it. Then go to Settings – XML Sitemaps and click to configure it (default settings are OK!). It’s a powerful way to add search engine optimzation to your site/blog!
  11. Speaking to the Women’s Initiative ladies tonight about reputation. One of the best ways to protect yourself is to inundate the web with content! Blog, use social media, post to forums, submit articles, use video – over time, there’s no way that 1 negative post/review would ever measure up to the overwhelming evidence of how fabulous you are!
  12. Have you noticed you can’t sort Fan Pages into Friend Lists now? Back to the drawing board!

  18. Facebook is doing away with applications that use tabs on personal PROFILEs. All the more reason to get thee a fan page! It will be the ONLY place on Facebook that you can add tab apps to such as email sign up, youtube tab, etc.

  21. OK I know this is kinda long and looks complicated but I love MailChimp and I love that once you have it set up anyway, it is super easy to add it to a Facebook tab! Easily add an email signup form to your Fan Page using this step by step tutorial.

  24. Did anyone listen to my Book Launch call? I ended with this: The most important thing to remember is that social media is social – this is interactive thing! People want personal connections. Use the social media tools to help them find you or to reach out to them, but pick up the phone, interact, respond and be social!
