A few days ago, REV Asia has been acquired by Media Prima for RM105 million or $24.2 million to be exact. As a fully integrated media company, Media Prima is a Malaysia-listed firm that boasts substantial power in TV, radio, and print media. Such landmark acquisition means that Media Prima will emerge as the largest media entity in Malaysia as its total reach has been estimated in the figure of 10.4 million monthly visitors.

This immediately puts Media Prima at third place which is behind only Facebook (15.7 million) and Google (14.1 million). Despite its establishment as merger of several digital media companies in 2014, REV Asia quickly becomes a tale of wonder for a digital media startup to rise as a leading industry leader. REV Asia credits its success to the simple rule of knowing how to get its customers smiling.

Collaborate with customer is key to customer service

It will be a lie if someone says that any particular business does not require passion in order to run it. Despite the popular saying that “business is business and there is nothing personal about it”, we are actually dealing with other potential clients or customers who have their own opinion, likes, and dislikes. Indeed, it will be a waste of time if you discuss a potentially lucrative deal when you lack the passion or drive to plan, execute, and implement it. What is even worst is that your client finds that he or she is unable to connect with you as you are being perceived as lacking interest.

Aptly named, REV Asia is literally building itself as a powerful engine that is revving up all the time. Generating ideas and strategies that can lead to dominance of the digital media (which it eventually did), REV Asia believes strongly in the importance of encouraging passion among its employees so that all of them can engage their tasks passionately. Such strong passion that they have for their work have already convinced the customers about their willingness to commit creative ideas as well as outthinking the established barrier or box.

From the perspectives of the clients and customers, they are even more willing to trust and collaborate with REV Asia because they are excited to see how the plans work out. Most importantly, they also extend their confidence on REV Asia since the people in REV Asia prove that they can offer a lot of great ideas that can generate better values in the projects or business deals. This is how REV Asia is able to build up a strong relationship with various partnering industry leaders that come from different fields.

Cultivate Customer-Driven Culture

According to managing director of REV Asia, Voon Tze Khay, he believes that the creation and cultivation of a company culture is really important. As a matter of fact, REV Asia invests heavily in it so that it can attract top quality talents that are vital when it comes to empowering its exponential growth. Not only that, it places high priority on flexible practices in the spirit and transparency. Needless to say, this enables its entire staff to perform, express themselves and grow individually in a very competitive field.

In fact, this emphasis on cultivating a culture that encourages performance, personal growth, and self-expression eventually creates a stronger customer-driven culture which is also tied with the corporate identity of REV Asia. Since each employee has been given the opportunity to express his or her input in a manner that uplifts the entire company, this also means that all of them have been given the chance to be true living human beings instead of the normal automatons that are prevalent in most companies.

In other words, the entire staff will be able to deal with any prospective clients or customers in a more amicable yet professional manner. The ability to communicate is certainly a much-needed skill in this world of growing complexity especially when it comes to dealing with a wide range of customers that come from diverse fields. Furthermore, the ability to express and relate also builds a stronger rapport with the clients who recognize the potential of REV Asia as a great partner to execute unique digital media strategy or plan. Indeed, this has been cited as one of the decisive factors behind REV Asia’s success story because the entire company truly understands about the needs and wants of the grassroot communities throughout the region.

Connecting with Customers is an A Level Attitude “Think big, act fast” is a statement that Voon gave as an advice for any aspiring entrepreneur to dominate any field. However, this statement also plays the major role of how we are going to deal with the customers. In order to think big and act fast at the same time, REV Asia has been acquiring Viralcham, Rojaklah, OHBULAN!, Kongsiresepi.com, Siraplimau.com, and Myresipi.com in a series of aggressive shopping spree. In the end, this is all about widening its distribution channel so that it can better serve its customers and advertising clients alike. This is just external side of the whole enterprise to offer better and more viable options to customers.

In another aspect, the “think big, act fast” mind helps you to connect with customers in a more meaningful manner. Moreover, you will engage your customer to know about his ideas or goals. Then, you offer the bigger picture and a list of choices so that your customer can make a more informed and effective decision that benefits everyone. Connecting with customer should not be seen as liability because it can be easily transformed into a powerful strength or asset.

In conclusion, the success story of REV Asia also comes from its ability to offer a wonderful working experience that helps its customers in many ways that they do not expect.
