Microsoft CRM is getting bigger, adding features, opportunities and possibilities all the time, for you and your businesses. Microsoft aims to have 2 updates every year for CRM Online and 1 every year for CRM on Premise. New features are likely to benefit CRM Online first as that empowers Microsoft to control and manage these new features in their infrastructure environment, well in advance before they roll it out for On Premise.

Microsoft is clearly trying to drive organizations with their cloud offerings. No wonder a lot of their features, and the upcoming ones, rely on seamless integration to Microsoft’s several cloud offerings such as Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics Marketing, Social Engagement, Parature and many more.

The set of new features can be termed to be revolutionary for CRM. Though new customers find it elementary, but for existing CRM users, they will and are welcomed to improve user’s experiences and productivity.

This is an effort to portray the Navigation feature, but would be more than happy if you contact me to add up to something that I might have missed or for further details.

So how does Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online 2015 upgrade – Navigation feature helps in benchmarking Customer Relationship?

Navigation

Microsoft added few new features in the 2015 Update 1, for Dynamics CRM, basically to speed up the way users navigate. As a MS Dynamics CRM end user, this is one of my favorite changes in this particular update.

The launch version of CRM 2013 and CRM 2015 is equipped with a navigation pattern, where upon selecting the appropriate module i.e. “Sales”, would display all the entities of the sales team horizontally. But here if you wanted to access some of the later entities you had to scroll across. This too was fine with users, until they moved the mouse off the menu and it disappeared and you had to repeat the process all over again. Anyone who is used to Click Dimensions will certainly embrace this change as this new feature makes a lot of entities available in the Marketing section to scroll across. Let’s have a look at the old navigation:

However; the new CRM navigation in CRM 2015 online shows additional options in a single screenshot:

A lot of you might have been using CRM for years now and may remember how easy it was to access “Advanced Find”. You will be happy to know that it is introduced once again in CRM 2015, which allows users to run a query on the data from any and every screen within the system.

Microsoft Dynamics had the “Quick Create function” in CRM 2013 which allowed you to quickly create some basic records. Opting or the Quick Create dropped down a menu that enabled you to enter information without leaving the screen you were currently working on. This proved really useful when you were looking out to “quickly create” an Account while you were in an Opportunity record. With the latest update, Microsoft has added some more features including a search and a recently viewed records option.

This search option allows users to search across multiple entities. It uses wildcard search (use a “*” before a word to search for any records that contain that word). The search results will be displayed based on the location of the entity. There are up to 10 multiple entities that can be determined in the settings, and through a filter button you have the option to narrow down your results:

Certified Microsoft Dynamics partners are on their toes to be a bridge between end users and MS Dynamics, it seems so as apart from other features that are made available on the header, Microsoft has also added “Recently Viewed Records”.

The functionality is designed to enable users to quickly view the last records and views accessed, lately. This in a way speeds up the navigation within the system, as it allows you to promptly jump to the records you were in recently from any of the screens in CRM. Apart from quick view it also allows you to pin and view records that you marked important and feel the need to always have quick access to them. Say for example, some of those key accounts or top opportunities you are currently working on, you have the luxury to pin them and able to access them in 2 clicks from anywhere across the system. This is as good a functionality that was available with CRM 2011, however; this one compiles all the recent records and views in a single screen, making it extremely convenient to access. I love the feature try it out yourself and share you views in the comments below:
