Sharing information and our thoughts on the latest in the world of Apps, Gadgets & Mobile Technology in General...

Plenty has been happening, as usual, in the world of mobile technology development. Newer applications, software releases, newer gadgets, and a lot more – this is exactly the way we can sum up the last week. Here’s a low-down on the Top 5 of all things mobile and important:

1. Google comes up with Google Keep to take on Evernote

Google Keep Note-Making App

Google recently launched much-anticipated and previously leaked app, Google Keep. Currently available for the Android platform and for the web, Google Keep is a smart note-making application. It does all – helping you jot down ideas, make checklists, take notes during a meeting, save photos, and even save voice memos. You also get to sync the data across all your devices.

Well, if it sounds similar to something that many of us have been using – Evernote then let me confirm it – it functions exactly like the popular app – Evernote. It is difficult to point out the difference between Evernote and Google Keep apart from the fact that Google is a dominant force in the world of internet and as it is also planning to integrate Keep directly into Google Drive, things might get difficult for Evernote, which will need to innovate to survive.

2. Revolutionary 3D display that plays hologram-type videos

Innovative 3D Display

HP Labs have got a major breakthrough in the technology of LCD displays and this has got the mobile gadgets developers and makers across the world, sit up and take notice.

So, here’s the technology in brief:
A new 3-dimensional display has been developed by HP Labs, which can successfully play 3D videos – the effect is just like watching a real object. This is possible without employing any external moving parts or glasses. While the video gets played on the HP system, it hovers just above the screen, giving out an effect like hologram. Viewers can easily walk around the screen and watch the video from over 200 different viewing points. Now, that’s what we call AMAZING!

Researchers are hopeful that this technology will allow them to come up with newer, smarter user-interfaces for portable electronic gadgets like mobile phones, gaming devices, and data visualization applications. Well, we are just hoping to see this awesome technology become a reality for our SmartPhones!

3. Amazon’s ‘Send to Kindle’ App – a new wave of development for Kindle

This application can be easily integrated into websites hosted on any platform and allows Kindle users to send articles or web-pages to their Kindle tablets with just a push of a button. So, if you find anything interesting and want to read it later, you simply have to use the ‘Push to Kindle’ button and the pages will be saved for you to read later. Well, have to say, interesting! Definitely good news for Kindle users.

With data security becoming a major concern for most mobile phone and tablet makers given the way these devices are used nowadays, many of the manufacturers are putting in extra effort to ensure data security on their devices. Recently, Apple added new security measures to its iCloud and Apple ID users in the form of a 2-way verification process. So, if you are logging into your iCloud account from a new device, you will be required to verify your account info.

Though not revolutionary, this new development has implications for millions of iPhone users and hence deserves a mention here.
