This is a short story shared by Ryan Macaulay. It’s about his sister Sarah who lives in Massachusetts,
Sarah had gas lines installed in their house this winter for heat. National Grid came and dug up the lawn for the lines and of course covered when they left. Well in June, my brother in law Rob heard a crew outside the house working in the yard and it was the gas company. They had returned to fertilize, landscape and plant grass over the areas of the lawn they dug up for the gas line. I was so impressed!”
According to their website, National Grid believes there’s only one way to do business—doing it the right way. All employees receive Standards of Conduct training and materials to help them make good choices. Here is the expectation they set out:
- Unflinching adherence to the highest standards of business conduct
- Unhesitating reporting of potential ethical or legal violations
- Quick, effective remediation of problems once they’re identified
The program is called appropriately called, “Doing the Right Thing.”
Today’s Lagniappe (a little something extra thrown in for good measure) – Here’s a creative parody of Spike Lee’s 1989 film “Do the Right Thing” using Sesame Street figures. Warning – the language is Rated G for graphic:
