For years now, multiple companies have been at the forefront of both technology as well as the myriads of ways they can utilize this tech to market their products, interact with their consumers, and show their customer appreciation. However, one particular company has taken their customer appreciation ventures to the next level as the ‘un-carrier’ brand released T-Mobile Tuesdays, an app dedicated to thanking their millions of subscribers in the form of all kinds of free gear and discounted items. After all, who turns down free?

On top of this, the company has chosen to collaborate with dozens of other companies in this venture to bring the most desirable items of the millennial generation to their users for discounted rates. From free small frosties courtesy of Wendy’s all the way to discounted gas at Shell, T-Mobile has continued to show their appreciation since the start of the app in June of last year, but the best part about the app is that the people are listening. Since it’s start, the app was downloaded over 10 million times and reached the top of the charts in both the Apple App Store as well as the Android Google Play Store proving that this new form of customer appreciation is truly the marketing tech of the future.

So, what’s next for T-Mobile and what companies will we see on T-Mobile Tuesdays in 2017?

T-Mobile’s CEO, John Legere, recently announced at CES their newest campaign in the ‘un-carrier movement’ and it’s pretty amazing. T-Mobile ONE, the newest carrier plan for the company, was hinted at online in a Youtube video titled “everyone keeps asking John Legere…What’s Next???” but during his press conference at CES, he went into much more detail and everyone is on board.

The truth is, finding a reliable data and cell plan can be a serious pain and hidden rates and fees can leave you flat broke with a crappy phone in the process. However, the new T-Mobile ONE plan completely annihilates those hidden costs giving the consumer the power to pay the price they want to pay and even get money back in their pockets in return.

“Wireless consumers pay billions extra every year in added surcharges, taxes, monthly fees and carrier price hikes. It’s reached epidemic proportions! And, the carriers just keep inventing new ways to make their customers pay. So, the Un-carrier’s putting an end to it,” said John Legere, T-Mobile president and CEO at CES.

So, what exactly does this mean?

Customers will not only be given the ability to keep their set price forever if they choose and only change it when THEY want to but will also never pay for service they do not use, know that the price advertised will always be their exact bill (no hidden fees tacked on), and will never be charged for their data usage ever again (unlimited talk ,text, and data for all).

I promise you I’m not making this stuff up. If you sign up for forty dollars a line, at the end of the month, that is exactly what you will pay–no added fees involved. Furthermore, with their new KickBack plan if you don’t use more than 2GB of data in a month, they will now pay you back with up to ten dollars in credit towards your next bill. Then, with the new Un-Contract plan, you can choose to pay that same amount no matter what forever if you’d like. That means no more price hikes and the plan you choose can only change in price when you decide. Lastly, the company has finally gone 100% unlimited everything so you never find yourself in the middle of a video, important Facebook chat, or even simply at the good part of a song with data that cuts out on you.

The response has obviously been highly favorable since its release on the 5th, and to show their competitors that they should follow in their footsteps, Legere asked that anyone paying for absurd fees monthly on their cell plans post a selfie of their expression when seeing the inflated cost with #FeeFace to their Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. So far, thousands of people have taken the challenge and, with T-Mobile pushing the phone industry to new limits, this is more than likely simply the start of so much more in this next year.

So, now data is free but is it reliable?

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably been asking this question over and over again throughout this entire article and the simple answer is yes. In fact, T-Mobile have been spending an insane amount of time improving their 4G-LTE and even pushing for 5G in the near future.

Yes, it may be hard not to be skeptical when using your phone’s data is literally like going on a treasure hunt without a map but the future is certainly now and, with the release of ONE, it’s no surprise that the company is focusing on their data speeds and reliability this year to be the best in the business on yet another level.

Okay, So What Companies Are Joining T-Mobile Tuesdays in 2017?

So maybe you already have a T-Mobile phone or are totally ready to get one with the new plan release but, other than the already awesome companies collaborating with the brand, what companies can we look forward to as T-Mobile subscribers in the next year?

For one, all of the content can now be gifted to your friends and family even if they aren’t T-Mobile users meaning that, if your friends is in a bind and needs a ride, the new $15 Lyft reward can be gifted to them by you in the blink of an eye. Sounds pretty cool, right?

Well, the company has also decided to show their support of health in the new year by adding a free year of Shape Magazine to their loot as well as $20 off 1-3 or 5-day Juice cleanses likewise. Not to mention regional prices like the FitBit Flex 2 and Gym Memberships. You can also win a wellness retreat if you sign up for the contest in the next month and, with movie rentals by Fandango, the company has chosen to promote healthy date nights as opposed to the candy-ridden theater dates you may have grown accustomed to.

Finally, word has spread about the possible inclusion of the free Domino’s pizza reward again and it may just happen. Last time the company collaborated with Domino’s, the pizza brand backed out after millions of T-Mobile subscribers flooded their stores, however, the new T-Mobile ONE plan may allow them to make a comeback on the app which is great for anyone who is looking for a cheap way to have a pizza and movie night.

In the end, it’s pretty obvious that the ‘un-carrier’ continues to reinvent the game one idea at a time and, as for 2017, this may be a year of countless advancements in the way we view mobile plans, data, and customer appreciation alike. After all, this is the 21st century and it’s about time that a company speaks for the people of this generation and changes the way they view some of the most boring parts of life. Picking your cell phone carrier may have been one of those aspects of your life you once considered to be boring and mundane but, as John Legere laughs in the face of carrier normality at the start of a new year, it’s pretty safe to assume that your ‘un-carrier’ may soon be at the forefront of cool tech in this modern age.

  1. Impressive. In this approach, T-Mobile appears to be engaging with customers, and providing value, on a considerably more emotional and memorable level compared to competitors. This is a concerted move to de-commoditize the experience.
