Big data becoming a boon to the industrial sector.

We always come across the word Data but we haven’t analyzed what this word actually means. Data is a word that has come from a Latin word datum which means ‘to give’. Data is nothing but the raw, lowest level of abstraction form, from which information is derived.Information is a collection of raw data. Data can be explained as some alphabets, numbers or symbols by assembling all this information can be formed.

CONCEPT OF BIG DATA

DEFINITION

Big data is a very large volume of structured and unstructured data, it is difficult to process this data with traditional database and software techniques. In big data services, the collection of data is so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process it by using on-hand traditional database management tools or traditional data processing applications. Big data solutions are prearranged by using data whose diversity, complexity, scale is in the requirement of new architectures, algorithms, techniques, and analytics in order to manage it and extract the hidden knowledge in it.

There are varieties of big data by which big data services can be provided, those data are as follows:-

• Various types, formats, and structures.

• Various numbers, alphabets, text, images, audio, video, social media data, time series, etc.

• Single data applications can collect or generate several types of data.

The generation of big data is mostly done by us by using various social media sites and networks. Apart from us, big data is generated by scientific instruments by collecting all sorts of data, mobile devices by tracking objects all the time, sensor technology and networks by measuring all kinds of data. As big data provides big data solutions at a very cheaper and easier means to use, hence this results into a transform in industry.
There are several industries in which big data is performing and initiating competitiveness between them. Some of the key industries in which big data has explored are as follows:-

• Retail industry

In retail industry, the buying and selling of products both online and offline are evolving faster than ever before due to the data-first strategy. By this, a retailer can understand their customers want for a product and they provide the same to them by taking them apart from their cash and reaping huge rewards. This is possible by applying data analytics at every stage of the retail process by which a trend is created in the market leading to an increase in demand for the same.

• Manufacturing industry

Big data is playing a huge role in the modern manufacturing industry. It advances robotics, increasing levels of automation are changing drastically the face of modern manufacturing. In the most traditional manufacturing data is still making a mark by embedding sensors in the equipment due to which they monitor the valuable data which helps them to keep a watch on the health and efficiency of the machines.

• Healthcare industry

Big data is transforming the way of identifying and treatment of illness, due to which it improves quality life and preventable deaths. This provides artificial intelligence solutions due to which it is possible to understand patient’s illness at an early stage before it is too late that is at the edge of the warning sign. Artificial intelligence solutions can read a patient’s as much as possible due to this a right treatment can be provided at the right time.

• Transportation and supply chain management industry

In the world of transportation due to the enterprise mobility management it is possible to keep an eye on the vehicles and the companies can collect and analyze the telematics data from that vehicle. As enterprise mobility management automates the process of securing this data improves better driving behavior, track their routes and improve vehicle maintenance. In supply chain, the warehouse services are demanded at a huge range due to this digital camera are used to monitor stock levels routinely and data provides alert when restocking is required.

• Education industry

Nowadays an increasingly large amount of data is generated about how to make learning more efficient and effective therefore education establishments are using this data to analyze and work out in the area where the students are not learning efficiently, identify better teaching strategies and transform the better delivery education. Though these days all the teaching is not done in the classroom, there’s a boom in online teaching which provides a wealth of insight in the way of people learning and leading to huge advances in personalized adaptive learning.

Government and public sector industry

These days a number of cities are aiming to name themselves with the golden word “smart city”. So, a number of cities are currently improvising data analytics for accomplishing their aim. In this, the data collection, analytics, and other information combine to create a joined–up public services and utilities. The cities that are already using smart, connected and data-driven technology are helping to improve the public services.

Conclusion

After all the information above, here to conclude, big data is not only used to help an organization to become more successful but it also improves business operations for effective marketing. High-performance computing analysis is designed to support big data initiatives with in-memory, database, and grid computing options. Big data analytics can improve cloud computing of an organization as a service and IT resources can quickly adjust to meet the changing demand in the market. On-demand customers are required to push big data analytics to greatly elimination of time, capital expenses and maintenance associated with the on-premises deployment. After all this information it is very clear that it is well passed the time where the business should have to worry about Big Data. All the examples about the different industries given above clearly states that big data has already revolutionized with a clear business strategy and also eliminating the unwanted part in a business.
