We asked Ashley, formerly known as Intern Ashley, to look back through the past few months of data for trends and unique spikes in activity within our merchant discount network. Using our analytics tools she then paired those jumps in activity with current events to see if there was a correlation.

With our high tech analytic tools, we are able to see monthly trends of where and when people are saving the most. When people save with our discount programs, loyalty is built, customer retention grows, and incremental revenue increases. It’s a lovely thing. Let’s take a look at what merchants were popular in May and why.

As we moved into May, it seems there was a spike in shopping temperature at Target.com. Due to approaching sunny weather and warmer temperatures, people were most likely stocking up on summer essentials like bathing suits, shorts, flip flops, sunscreen, sunglasses, beach towels, and more.

The month of May also experienced heavy raining spouts of bookings to recreational havens like SeaWorld, Six Flags, Walt Disney World® Resort, and more. With many families anticipating kids getting out of school, what better way to celebrate than to plan fun trips for the whole family with no homework.

Great discounts to Endless Vacation Rentals caused a level 4 savings storm. People booking vacations to enjoy the sunshine and get away from school and work triggered raging winds of discounts that resulted in a SAVINGS HURRICANE. You just have to put something like that in all caps.

Not to fear, Hurricane Access didn’t last for the entire month of May. Out of the sun and rain came a beautiful rainbow with a pot of car rental savings at the end of it. There’s no easier way to get around on vacation than by renting your own car. Unique discounts and single-day free rentals lets you be in control of your destination.

That’s all for the May weather report, but don’t forget to check back with us in later summer months as we predict gloom-and-doom thunderstorms (for the kids, at least) that always comes with increased shopping for back to school.
